Heidelberg SAPS release weekly stats to warn community

The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between June 16 and 22.

The stats are shared to create community awareness about current crime trends in the area.

Sector 1:

(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)

• National Road 1: Truck hijacking and kidnapping on the N3 North. June 20 at 04:45.

• Groenfontein: Truck hijacking and kidnapping on Poortjie Road. June 20 at 09:15.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary on Disa Street. June 20 at 13:30.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary on Gousblom Street. June 20 at 07:00.

• Bergsig: Residential burglary on Lelie Street. June 21 at 21:45.

• Groenfontein: Possession of stolen property on Jacobs Street. June 19 at 09:15.

Property involved: FAW truck, Hino truck, meat, TV, microwave, duvet, speaker, cellphones, laptop, jewellery, shoes, iPad, tablet.

Sector 2:

(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)

• Heidelberg CBD: Possession of house burglary implements on Voortrekker Street. June 20 at 13:30.

• Heidelberg CBD: Common robbery on Begeman Street. June 19 at 12:30.

• Heidelberg Central: House robbery on Unie Street. June 18 at 10:00.

• Shalimar Ridge: Theft from a vehicle on the R23 Balfour Road. June 17 at 18:45.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: General theft on Oos Street. June 17 at 14:25.

Property involved: Pipe wrench, knife, wheel spanner, screwdriver, gloves, cellphone, laptop, powerbank, pressure washer, toolbox, drill, gas bottle.

Sector 3:

(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lagerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)

• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping on the N3 South. June 19 at 19:00.

• Rensburg: Common robbery on AG Visser Street. June 18 at 13:00.

• Heidelberg Industrial: Damage to essential infrastructure and general theft on Stasie Street. June 18 at 01:20.
• Rensburg: General theft on Vrede Street. June 17 at 20:30.

Property Involved: Toyota Hilux, cellphone, copper cable, gate motor.

The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes in their areas because they can only respond to crimes if reported. This will also allow the police to focus on hotspots.
