Northern Cape Premier visits Lesedi

Vopak's possible expansion to the Northern Cape.

Executive Mayor Mluleki Nkosi of Lesedi Local Municipality hosted the Premier of the Northern Cape, Zamani Saul, and his leadership group on February 1.

They visited the Vopak Terminal, Lesedi. The business is situated between Heidelberg and Nigel.

Discussions were held to expand Vopak’s operations, possibly to the Northern Cape.

The plant was inspected and the possibilities and opportunities were discussed.

Vopak Terminal, Lesedi is one of two terminals in SA. The other is in Durban.

There are 78 terminals across the world. Vopak’s head office is d in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Saul said, “The Northern Cape province is negotiating with Vopak as an infrastructure investor specifically focusing on piping, storage and the distribution of hydrogen and ammonia.

“This is a tremendous enabler for global access and networks complimenting our Special Economic Zone and port development.”
