Cambridge FC faced Vosloorus Arsenal FC in a friendly match on October 14.
They played the match at the Mackenzieville Stadium, with both teams preparing for their upcoming Nedbank Cup matches.
“The Cambridge team comprised a group of young players for us to see if the boys are ready to compete at a higher level,” said the Cambridge FC chairperson, Ignatius Maphike.
“The game started with the home team creating various scoring chances right out of the gate.”
Cambridge player Kgotso Makhura opened the scoreboard with a corner kick. Soon after, the Vosloorus team equalised, ending the first half with a 1-1 tie.

“The second half saw both teams turn the heat up,” Maphike said.
“The Cambridge team stood their ground but kept losing the ball easily in the middle of the park.”
Cambridge player Oupa Mbokazi scored the team’s second goal in the second half.
The third goal for the Cambridge team was scored through a corner kick by Nathi Ntadi when the ball bounced off a Vosloorus player as an own goal.
The Cambridge team won the match with a final score of 3-1.
“We need some experienced individuals,” said newly appointed co-coach Goodwill Sithathu.
“But we saw some positive results, and it was an overall good game with the players showing a clear intention to win.
“We can only get better from here.”
