Devon SAPS reach out to community

The purpose of the outreach in Devon was to curb contact crime, which is a challenge in the area.

Devon SAPS held an outreach programme to address gender-based violence, substance abuse and mental health on October 10.

The Departments of Health and Community Safety, GBV Brigade, SASSA, SANCA, Emergency Medical Services and Agapen joined them.

“The purpose was to curb contact crime, which is a challenge in our area,” said Vispol commander Warrant Officer Sbongile Ndlela.

“The awareness was in the form of one-on-one visits with the community and distribution of safety tips.”

The station commander, Warrant Officer Mbongiseni Zwane, thanked everyone who participated in the event.

“We hope the community will consider the safety tips. We need to stand together to ensure safety in our community,” concluded Zwane.
