Staff learn about nutrition

The hospital took part in Nutrition Week by hosting various activities.

With the recent Nutrition Week in mind, Heidelberg Hospital’s Dietetics Unit held various food talks during the week of October 9.

The talks addressed staff and clients on how to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

The theme of the week was ‘Feel good with food’.

On October 10, a team of dieticians – Koketso Phosa, Mapula Makgoba and Lienka de Beer – shared tips on the contributing factors that nutritious foods one’s mental health and cognitive performance.

Mapula Makgoba, Koketso Phosa and Mpumo Tsotetsi were excited to participate in the events.

Also discussed were complementary feeding food choices, lunchbox and snack choices, home food preparation and the benefits of nutritious food on physical well-being and performance.

On October 13, various hospital staff had an opportunity to have their body mass index checked, courtesy of the Dietetics Unit and Food Services.

Staff members found to be non-compliant in terms of maintaining a healthy lifestyle received recommendations.
