Two local institutions renamed
Busiswe Modisakeng and Mabutho Hlatshwayo dedicated their lives to public and community service.
Representatives from the Lesedi Local Municipality and Gauteng Provincial Government were present on October 30 at the unveiling of two newly renamed institutions in the Lesedi municipal area.
The new names were unveiled by Gauteng Social Development MEC Faith Mazibuko and Lesedi Local Municipality Mayor Mluleki Nkosi.
The Emmasdal Child and Youth Care Centre was renamed Busiswe Modisakeng, and JH Luckhoff Child and Youth Care Centre was renamed Mabutho Hlatshwayo.
Modisakeng and Hlatshwayo both dedicated their lives to public and community service.
The renaming of the centres is more than just a symbolic gesture, it is a declaration that the community must not be divided by hate but be united in diversity.
“We are grateful to be part of the great occasion. It is part of our transformation to a better community. In renaming the two institutions it is a proof that together we can be sure that renewal takes place as we go into the future with new hope. Our past was defined for us to learn from it. We have the opportunity to rewrite our own history” said Nkosi.
