Players shine despite national Rhinos’ defeat
The South African team gave a better account of themselves in the second match.
The national Rhinos Rugby League team, which played two test matches against the USA Hawks in Pretoria on December 4 and 7 had a distinctly local flavour.
Various players from the Nigel Rabbitohs played in both matches.
The players included Junaide Seedat, Graig Pienaar, Rourke Lyle-Mason, C-Jay Strauss, Frikkie Jansen and James Campbell.
The USA Hawks proved too strong for this South African team and won both matches.
The USA Hawks scored a 38-18 victory in the first match.
In the second match, the South African team gave a better account of themselves and had to settle for a 44-32 loss.
Strauss scored a try in the first test match, and Pienaar scored three tries in the second match.
As the matches continued, the South African team started to find their feet and combinations.
The longer the South African team can play together, the more competitive they will be.
