The Heidelberg Athletics Club’s tightly-knit team made a bold statement at the Johnson Crane Hire Marathon in Benoni on January 26, starting the 2025 athletics calendar in style.

Twenty-four members, spanning all categories, proudly represented the Red Army’s colours, showcasing their dedication to the sport.

The team’s representation was evenly distributed, with participants in the 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km events.

This display of teamwork and endurance sets the tone for an exciting year ahead for the club. With such a strong start, the Red Army is ready to conquer the 2025 athletics season.

“Special mention goes to these runners who completed their first official race – Nhlakanipho Dladla, Nkosana Nhlapo, Ngwako Raboroko and Gene April. Their debut is a testament to the club’s thriving spirit and commitment to nurturing emerging talent.
