Recognition for Heidelberg woman entrepreneur
Zara wants to inspire women to step up and be noticed.
Heidelberg resident and entrepreneur Zara Mohammad (45) was a finalist in the 10th Woman of Stature Awards held at the Indaba Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre in Sandton on April 12.
Mohammad has made huge strides in Heidelberg as a top businesswoman and someone who inspires others.
She has various business ventures, including a restaurant, a furniture manufacturer and an industrial tank business.
Her nomination was in the entrepreneur of the year category. There were over 700 nominations for the event, and 98 finalists were shortlisted through a rigorous adjudication process audited by MGI RAS, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Unfortunately, Mohammad did not win her category.
“Just to be nominated is an honour. But sharing the stage with all the inspirational women was a highlight,” said Mohammad.
The Speaker of the Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM), Phindi Mpemvu, said, “Mr Smith Mnyakeki from Ward 12 attended the red-carpet event on the LLM’s behalf.
Zara set an example by making it as a finalist in the entrepreneur of the year category. We encourage entrepreneurs from Heidelberg and the surrounding areas to go forth and make their mark.
“Zara lives in Heidelberg Industrial, and I congratulate her on her award as a Woman of Stature. We hope this inspires more women from Lesedi to participate in the Woman of Stature Awards next year.”
Mohammad is not giving up on her quest to help Heidelberg and the community.
“I have also challenged myself to create new revenue for the residents of Lesedi. I started today. More details will soon come to light. We want to make a difference and help the community create a better future,” concluded Mohammad.
