Heidelberg water supply being restored after pump station problem

Lesedi Local Municipality has confirmed that water supply is being stabilized following a technical fault at Heidelberg main pump station. The affected pump has been reset. Rand Water has been engaged to assist, and full restoration is expected

Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) says water supply to Heidelberg and surrounding areas is being stabilised after a technical fault at the Heidelberg Pump Station.

The municipality confirmed that the affected pump was successfully reset and is now operating. Additional measures are being implemented to speed up the recovery process.

Municipal officials indicated that the system remains in the recovery phase and that updates will be issued as conditions improve.

Rand Water has also been engaged to assist in boosting the system and ensuring adequate supply.

The municipality said supply to all affected areas is expected to be fully restored, barring any further technical setbacks.

The LLM apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused and urged the public to use water sparingly while the system stabilises.

As of January 7, reservoir levels were recorded as:

Command: 50%

Rensburg: 72%

Emmasdal: 40%
