Isithembiso Youth Movement calls on Ratanda and Heidelberg residents to donate clothes and shoes

The Isithembiso Youth Movement has launched a community initiative to support vulnerable residents through clothing and shoe donations, while also planning counselling, feeding and homework-support programmes for young people and children.

The Isithembiso Youth Movement has launched a community initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable residents in Ratanda and Heidelberg through clothing and shoe donations.

The organisation is calling on community members to donate new or gently used clothing and shoes, which will be distributed to individuals and families who are struggling financially.

Founder Motlalepule Khitiga said the initiative was established out of a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing hardship.

“We saw a need in our communities and felt that we could not simply stand by while people are struggling. Through this initiative, we want to alleviate poverty and lend a helping hand to those who are in need. Even a small donation of clothes or shoes can make a difference to someone who does not have the basic necessities,” he said.

The movement also hopes to encourage young people and other community members to strengthen their relationship with God while creating a supportive environment where people can seek help with the challenges they face.

Khitiga said the organisation’s vision goes beyond providing material assistance, as it also wants to address some of the social challenges affecting young people.

“We want to encourage people, especially young people, to come closer to God and to know that they are not alone when they are facing challenges. There are many young people dealing with difficult circumstances, and we would like to work with social workers and other professionals to ensure that they have access to counselling and the support they need,” he said.

Khitiga added that the organisation also has plans to establish a community centre where it could run a feeding scheme and provide assistance to children with their homework.

“We would like to establish a centre where we can have a feeding scheme and assist children with their homework. Our vision is to create a safe and supportive place where children and young people can receive guidance, encouragement and practical assistance.

“We know that we cannot do everything on our own, which is why we are calling on the community and other stakeholders to work with us,” he said.

The movement is appealing to residents, businesses and other stakeholders in Ratanda and Heidelberg to support the initiative by donating clothing, shoes and other resources. Community members who would like to contribute clothing, shoes or other forms of assistance can contact Isithembiso Youth Movement on 079 664 0112 or email fanyanakhitiga@gmail.com.
