ANC shortlist puts 3 names forward for Lesedi mayoral race

Themba Motsepe, Eunice Sibiya and Antisi Kheswa have emerged as the ANC’s three potential mayoral candidates for Lesedi, with a final decision expected in September.

The ANC has identified three potential mayoral candidates for Lesedi Local Municipality ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

Themba Motsepe, Eunice Sibiya and Antisi Kheswa were announced as candidates on August 22, during the ANC’s national mayoral candidate announcement event at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The ANC had initially indicated that it would announce its mayoral candidates at the event as part of its preparations for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

However, the party instead unveiled a pool of potential candidates following its nomination, screening, vetting and interview process.

The final mayoral candidates will be announced in September.
