Heidelberg faces reduced water supply as three reservoirs fall below 20%
Residents in parts of Heidelberg are experiencing reduced water supply and low pressure after the Emmasdal, Heidelberg Command and Hill reservoirs dropped below 20%.
Parts of Heidelberg are experiencing reduced water supply and low pressure following a sharp decline in water levels at three key reservoirs.
Lesedi Local Municipality issued a water supply statement on September 3, warning residents that the Emmasdal, Heidelberg Command and Hill reservoirs were operating at levels below 20%.
The municipality said the critically low levels were affecting the stability of the water distribution system, resulting in reduced supply and low pressure in some areas.
In response, the municipality has formally requested Rand Water to augment the bulk water supply to assist in restoring the reservoir levels and stabilising the distribution network.
Residents have been urged to use water sparingly while efforts are underway to allow the system to recover.
The municipality apologised to residents for the inconvenience caused and said further updates would be issued as the situation progresses.
