Stakeholders tackle service delivery and accountability challenges across Sedibeng
Municipal leaders and government stakeholders met in Lesedi on September 19 to discuss ways of improving service delivery, strengthening financial viability and enhancing accountability across the Sedibeng District.
Representatives from municipalities across the Sedibeng District met in Lesedi Local Municipality on September 19 for a stakeholder engagement aimed at improving service delivery, accountability and municipal performance.
The engagement was hosted by Gauteng Provincial Legislature Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Chairperson, Hon. Ntsako Mogobe.
Officials from the Gauteng Department of CoGTA, Sedibeng District Municipality and the local municipalities of Lesedi, Midvaal and Emfuleni attended the engagement.
The discussions focused on key challenges affecting local government, including service delivery, financial viability and accountability.
Stakeholders also assessed progress within municipalities, identified challenges, and shared practical solutions and best practices to improve municipal performance across the district.
The engagement highlighted the importance of cooperation between the different spheres of government in addressing challenges affecting communities.
Mogobe said continued stakeholder engagement and shared responsibility were important in strengthening municipal institutions and creating more responsive and sustainable local government.
