Burglar tells domestic to sleep

The police managed to chase one to the railway line and caught him

A man (24) was arrested by Norkem Park SAPS while he and two other suspects were fleeing a Christoffel Street home they had robbed last week Thursday.

According to MML Security officer, Stephen Steyn, his colleague, Johann Botes responded to the Van Riebeeck Park home after they had received a panic button alert.

It is believed the panic button was pressed by the domestic worker who was in the house. She was not injured by the men but they wrapped her up in a duvet and told her to sleep.

“Botes arrived at about 9.24am and found the gate ajar with the suspects’ blue Peugeot parked in the driveway. As he walked towards the front door, he realised the door had been broken. Botes also saw a television set loaded in the boot.

He immediately called for backup and alerted the police,” said Steyn.

The security officers were able to establish there were three suspects. They had already jumped over the fence into Riebeeck Village and split up.

“The police managed to chase one to the railway line and caught him,” he said.
