Mr Gaynation SA organisation and Mr Gaynation 2024, Gert Claassen-Smit, donated to a home that helps the community.

The Mr Gaynation SA organisation and Mr Gaynation 2024 visited Thato: One Big Family Home in Thembisa on April 29 to donate food parcels and other essentials.

The donations come after Mr Gaynation winner Gert Claassen-Smit contacted the home and pledged his commitment to helping it.

Claassen-Smit, part of the Pretoria Pride Board, helps the home as part of his duties to go to homes and orphanages to help the community.

He said that when he learnt about the orphanage in Thembisa and its role in the community, it made sense for him and his team to offer a helping hand with essentials that would sustain the staff and children.

Claassen-Smit outlined the challenges and aspirations that drove him and his team to help the home.

“When we started to reach out to Thato: One Big Family, we noticed it faces many challenges. Some include things most people take for granted, such as working computers. Staff at the home still had to do everything manually.

“That’s when we knew we needed to do more. My team took the necessary measures to assist staff at the home with technology products.
