Big turnout and electric atmosphere on Day 2 of St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival
A vibrant crowd, delicious food, and non-stop rugby action make for an unforgettable day at the festival.
Despite the chilly weather, Day 2 of the 28th St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival on April 19 saw a fantastic turnout, with rugby fans filling the stands to witness another thrilling day of schoolboy rugby.
The event, proudly presented by Standard Bank – South Africa, drew families, supporters, and enthusiasts eager to catch all the action.
As the mist lifted in the morning, the final round of U19 fixtures kicked off, and the Burger and C Rugby Fields came alive with intense matchups. The atmosphere was electric, with players giving their all and spectators cheering passionately.

In the Festival Village, the energy was just as high. Food stalls offered a range of gourmet treats, nostalgic comfort food, and refreshing drinks, ensuring everyone had what they needed to fuel up and enjoy the day.

With the U13 and U16 teams gearing up for their matches on Monday, the festival continues to celebrate the energy and spirit of youth rugby in true South African style.
Match results on April 19 at morning games:
- Golden Lions Invitational XV defeated St David’s Marist Inanda 20–16.
- Hoërskool Diamantveld beat Welkom-Gimnasium Hoërskool 50–33.
- Bethlehem Voortrekker Hoërskool vs SACS ended 8–21 in favour of SACS.
