Animal Farm back on Jo’burg stage
George Orwell’s timeless classic novel, Animal Farm, adapted to stage by Neil Coppen, will be staged at the Market Theatre from August 26 to September 6.
The production recently scooped two of the four nominations it received for the Naledi Awards.
Tickets are available on Computicket.
While the themes, characters and ideas behind Orwell’s text, first published in 1945, will remain unchanged, this production tells the story with a uniquely South African slant to ensure it has relevance and topicality for contemporary audiences.
The play features an all-female cast.Coppen said the play really encourages critical thinking around the reoccurring patterns of power and corruption within political systems and structures.
