Proudly South Africa celebrates Madiba’s 95th birthday

“Madiba has been a father to our nation who has never wavered in his commitment towards the upliftment of the less fortunate people in our society."

As the country and the world celebrate International Mandela Day, Proudly South African calls on the nation to stand united and to live out the legacy of the elder statesman.

“Madiba’s life istestimony to the fact that every individual can make a positive difference in our communities and our country. His life should inspire us all to continue his legacy, with Ubuntu at the core of everything we do – and how we treat our fellow South Africans,” said Proudly SA’s CEO, Adv. Leslie Sedibe.

Proudly SA is partnering with well known media personality and education activist, DJ Sbu, through the Sbusiso Leope Education Foundation (SLEF) to mark Mandela Day. Other partners on the Mandela Day Schools’ Initiative include Metro FM, the SABC and ACSA. The Proudly SA team is visiting the Siphiwe Primary School in Tembisa where they are doing painting, installing doors in the toilets and cleaning the premises. The school caters for 1300 learners. DJ Sbu is also visiting two other schools in the Tembisa area and one in Kathlehong.

“Madiba has been a father to our nation who has never wavered in his commitment towards the upliftment of the less fortunate people in our society. Today, we celebrate his 95th birthday through helping others. As Proud South Africans we should also commit to making every day a Mandela Day,” added Adv. Sedibe.

Proudly SA has also called on the nation to continue praying for Madiba, as he spends his birthday in the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria. Proudly SA was established during Madiba’s presidency, following the 1998 Presidential Jobs Summit. It‘s mandate is to promote the uptake of local products and services to create jobs – as well as promoting national pride, patriotism and social cohesion.
