SERVICE at the metro’s call centre should improve drastically in the near future.
With expansions at the centre in Bedfordview the number of call centre operators will increase from 10 to 60 a shift.
Speaking at the monthly council meeting on Thursday, the executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, said for the past few months they had been putting a lot of effort into revamping this facility. “By so-doing we intend to ensure the improvement of the quality of service rendered to our communities.”
The call centre has been expanded to accommodate 50 additional seats for call takers and dispatchers. The physical work has been finalised and 250 new positions have been advertised.
” It is expected that this additional capacity will bring some relief on the non-responsiveness of the call centre in time for the festive season, which we all know has major demands,” Gungubele said.
As part of the ongoing innovations and improvements at the call centre, the metro has introduced a twitter handle to enable easier, timeous and more effective communication with residents.
“We want to encourage our communities to follow us on this handle so they can receive updates on critical service delivery information,” Gungubele said.
While the call centre serves to report service delivery interruptions in your municipal services using the services complains line, 086-054-3000, the Twitter handle serves to receive updates on service delivery interruptions in municipal services by following the metro on twitter @EMM Call Centre.
Service delivery Interruptions includes electricity outages, water, road closures and waste removal.
This means that Twitter is mainly responsible for service delivery interruptions and not any other matters such as, for example, housing.
