Audi friends visit shack fire victims
‘We are truly thankful and grateful for the support we receive’
AUDI Friends of South Africa (SA), sponsored by Audi Centre Airport in Kempton Park, convoyed to Angelo Informal Settlement in Boksburg on September 21.
The team of Audi drivers visited the victims of the shack fire that took place on the morning of August 9 to donate blankets, food items and clothing.
On arrival, Sipho Mothiba, co-founder of Audi Friends of SA, reminded the community that an injury to one was an injury to all, but that their setback should not discourage them.
“Just because this has happened to you, does not mean you should be hopeless and it should not stop here. Just as you are helped, you should also help others when a need arises,” he encouraged.
Since the incident victims have been rebuilding their lives with the help of donations and, with assistance, their shacks have been re-erected.
Twenty-eight-year-old Thusonyane Morake lives with her sister and daughter and lost most of her clothes in the fire.
Morake, who has been staying at a friend’s house and borrowing her clothes, welcomed the support from Audi.
“I am very happy today and I pray that God blesses Audi for helping us,” she said.
Audi Friends of South Africa is focused on assisting where there is a need, supporting the destitute, as well as charities and organisations that are making a difference.
Another community member, Themba Nene, expressed his gratitude on behalf of his wife and children.
“We are truly thankful and grateful for the support we receive,” he said.
Angelo Informal Settlement community leader, Thomas Sibuyi, thanked Audi Friends of SA and Audi Centre Airport on behalf of the community.
“As a community we would like to say thank you to Audi, not many people can do this for others,” he said.
