Forensic evidence bags dumped
When police attend to a crime scene, they do not want members of the community, including journalists, to get close to the scene.

The reason for this is that people may disturb the crime scene and tamper with crucial evidence. It is paramount that members from the forensic department are given space and time to do their job without any disturbances. But children from Tembisa were spotted playing with forensic laboratory plastic bags recently.
Some of the bags even had case numbers on them. When asked where they obtained them, the children said they always find the bags next to the bridge between Isithama and Ibazelo.
“Why are you asking? We always see them here. Sometimes we wrap them up and use them as a ball,” said one of the children.
Sources within the SAPS said the plastic bags are not supposed to be there, because they have to be sent to the laboratory. The bags are also kept in storage should the need for evidence arise.
Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Manyadza Ralidzhivha, said he is surprised the plastic bags were found there.
