Kwasa Kwasa wins league title
Kwasa Kwasa won the TMSL league and received a floating trophy at the Mehlaring Stadium on Sunday last week.
They pipped former champions Zamalek by only three points. The new champions collected 56 points, while the runner up collected 53 points. Speaking during the function, the marketing manager of TMSL, Craydon Mqcina said, “I would like to thank all the teams that participated in the league this season. Even though we do not have a sponsor, we soldiered on for the whole year, using our own money.”
Mgcina said that apart from the fact that the league’s main aim is to keep the masters fit, they would also like them to have a way to socialise. When asked if former professional players are taken care of by the TMSL, he said “The TMSL is their homeand we help them to revive the good old days. We have a lot of former professional players, and we are happy they are imparting their knowledge and skills to the younger generation,” he said.
He pleaded with the business community to help them with a sponsorship.
“It is hard to run the league from our own pockets, but we hope that one day, someone will help us,” he said.
Former professional players who are participating in the league include Jerry “Legs of Thunder” Sikhosana, Pollen “Trompies” Ndlanya, Marcus Mphafudi, Clement Mazibuko, Johannes Chili, Tumelo Mofokeng, Thato Maleka and others.
Chairman of the league, Genius Ramahali, said the teams will meet again next month when they will plan for next season.
“All teams are expected to attend the meeting,” he said.
