People who should register are those who have never registered before to vote or those who have moved since the 2011 local government election.
To be able to vote you have to be a registered voter. For this you must be a South African citizen, 18 years old and have a green, bar-coded ID book, ID smartcard or Temporary Identity Certificate (TIC).
You can also apply for registration at your local municipal electoral office during office hours at Kempton Park Civic Centre.
When registering, you fill in an application form, your ID book is scanned and a bar-coded sticker is pasted inside.
This process only means you have applied for registration. Your application must still be processed and may take up to seven working days.
To find out if and where you are registered, send an SMS with your ID number to call the IEC’s call centre on 0800 11 8000, which is toll-free from a landline.
Use the IEC’s online voting station finder on www.elections.org.za to find your correct voting station.
In Kempton Park the voting stations for the different wards are:
Ward 12 (Chloorkop and parts of Phomolong): Chloorkop Primary School, Phomolong Primary School and AFM Phomolong.
Ward 13 (Birch Acres, Terenure and parts of Phomolong): Birch Acres Primary School, Laerskool Mooifontein and Phomolong Secondary School.
Ward 15 (Birchleigh proper, Glen Marais, Nimrod Park and Aston Manor): Laerskool Kruinsig, Aston Manor Primary School, Old Apostolic Church in Ilala Street and Wynand Marais hall.
Ward 16 (Eleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Allen Grove and Kempton Park extensions): Hoërskool Jeugland, civic centre, Laerskool Edleen and Laerskool Impala.
Ward 17 (Rhodesfield and extentions, airport, central business district up to Long Street, Terenure, Esther Park extensions and Croydon): Laerskool Kempton Park, Christian Community Church in Kempton Park West, Edleen Primary School, Cresslawn Primary and NG Hoogland.
Ward 91 (Birch Acres ext 23 tot 44, Norkem Park and Birchleigh North): Coen Scholtz Community Centre, Laerskool Jeugpark, Norkem Park Primary School, Damian Cathedral Church in Birch Acres and a temporary voting station next to house 63 at the Esselen Park RDP houses.
Ward 23 (Bonaero Park, Pomona commercial areas and Clear Water Estates): Bonaero Park Primary School, Lady Fatima Church, Evangelical Lutheran Congregation, Atlasville Tennis Club, Clear Water Estates and Summerfield Primary School.
Ward 100 (Pomona AH, Pomona residential, Glen Marais, Glen Erasmia, Witfontein Farm, Marister AH, Zesfontein AH and Bredell): Busy Bee, Curro Serengeti Academy, Oos-Rand Akademie, Petit High School, Laerskool Bredell, Tersia King Learning Academy, Tembisa Christian Family Church and a temporary voting station opposite Glen Eagle Estates).
