He walked away with a free policy worth R15 000 and a voucher for a free stay at the View Guest House bed and breakfast, among other prizes

Mr Tshaledi Rakoma (64), from Difateng section in Tembisa, has won the first Mr Tembisa Elderly Gentlemen Beauty Pageant which was held at the T-Shirt Hall at Esangweni section on Saturday last week.
Mr Rakoma was crowned by the Miss Tembisa Grannies Beauty Pageant winner, Ms Margaret Laka.
First Prince, Johannes Makhubo (67), walked away with a free policy worth R10 000 and a bed and breakfast voucher, while Second Prince Daniel Mohlaka (73) walked away with a free policy worth R7 000 and a bed and breakfast voucher.
The competition was organised by Ms Myra Maboya and her assistants, Ms Anna Radebe and Ms Mpumi Dlamini.
Mr Rakoma outshone twenty other finalists to win the title. He said that he could not believe it when he was announced as the King, as it was the first time he had taken part in a pageant.
“I am extremely excited to have won the title. It builds a good reputation and makes history for me. I feel blessed to have participated in the event, as we learnt many things. We are encouraged to exercise regularly and to eat healthily. I thank Ms Maboya for her passion for the aged,” he said.
Ms Maboya said that the aim of the pageant is to create self-confidence in elderly people and to urge them to take extra care of their health.
“We wanted to connect the elderly, so that they can learn to share their problems and start caring for each other. Caring for others is often an important part of keeping up relationships with people close to you. Talking about our feelings helps us stay in good mental health and helps one deal with difficult times,” she said.
