Church group assists the needy
The Mother's Union group from the Holyname Perish church in Sedibeng section, Tembisa, donated clothes to more than fifty disadvantaged families at the Madelakufa Informal Settlement.

The donation took place on Wednesday last week at the Madelakufa sports grounds .
The group of women also served a special meal that was prepared at the church.
Group member Ms Marble Mashishi said the donation is part of the social responsibility programme.
“We are women of prayers and we always pray for those in need. We are aiming to help fight poverty at informal settlements in the community. We have been visiting the informal settlement giving needy people clothes and serving them lunch,” she said.
Ms Mashishi added that they are using their own money to buy food for the lunch.
“We share the little we get from our government pension with those in need. We collect clothes for them and sometimes we buy clothes for the people. We care about our people and will always look after them.We are doing to encourage the residents to not lose hope. Our country is faced with so many challenges, like unemployment, poverty, high teenage pregnancy and drug abuse. We, as christians, must do something to help each other,” she added.
An unemployed mother of four, Ms Maria Zunguza, said she was grateful for the donation.
“Some of us go to bed hungry. We appreciate everything our community members do for us. They really do make a big impact on our lives. I have been looking for a job, but I have found nothing. May the good Lord bless their families,” said Ms Zunguza.
