Well-known boxing trainer, Mr Veli Mathibe, is pleading with the business community and members of the community at large to help his boxing club.

Mr Mathibe, who used to train with former world boxing champion Ditau “Diarora” Molefyane during his heydays, said he has more than 20 up-and-coming boxers who are training without boxing equipment.

“The situation is bad. We do not even have enough boxing gloves, and what pains me most is that we do not even have a place to train. We are currently training at an open space and when it rains, we are usually forced to stop because we have nowhere to go,” he said. He added that if he could just get a safer place for his boxers to train, he would produce boxing champions from Tembisa.

“I have talented and hard working boxers who can make it anytime, but without a sponsorship, these lads are going to be lost to the boxing world,” he said.

Those interested in helping him can call 076 067 4858.
