Fire burns down Monument Road house

The cause of the fire is unknown and the property is believed to have been undergoing renovations

A house on Monument Road burnt down last week Monday after Smart Security members and the fire brigade were unable to save the property.

“We received a call at about 9.40pm about a house that was on fire in Glen Marais. Upon arrival we realised the fire had spread extensively so the only thing we could do was contain it to prevent it spreading to neighbouring properties,” said Smart Security sales and marketing manager, Antonie Griessel.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the property is believed to have been undergoing renovations.

“The only person that lived in the house was the security officer who was not at his post when we arrived, although we saw his belongings were still there,” added Griessel.

There were no injuries during the fire.
