Tembisan pupil gets six distinctions

A 17-year-old pupil from Tembisa High School, Thabang Peter Sebola, passed his matric examinations with flying colours when he achieved six distinctions.

He obtained distinctions in mathematics, physical science, life sciences, computer applications, life orientation and computer application technology.

Sebola said the best medicine to pass matric is to start preparing for the examinations in January. “I did well because I started preparing for my examinations in January last year. I am also confident I will do well in my studies this year as nothing substitutes hard work,” he said.

When asked what he will be doing this year, he said there is nothing that can stop him at the moment. “I think passing matric has opened many doors for me to study mathematics and statistics at the University of Pretoria,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Noko Letsoalo, the principal of Thembisa High School which is also the oldest school in Tembisa, said the school improved from an 88 percent pass rate 94 percent this year.

He attributed to the improvement of the results at the school this year to hard work.

“I would like to congratulate the pupils themselves because they worked very hard. We are also blessed with hard working teachers at this school, and together, I am convinced we will do better this year,” he said.
