The Norkem Festival is back

The festival will once again host 400 netball and soccer players from primary schools around the country

NORKEM Park Primary School will once again host the Norkem Festival sporting event from March 7-9.

The festival, which is in its 12th year, will see 14 soccer and 14 netball teams take part this year, making it one of the biggest in the country.

The generosity of long-time sponsor, Imperial Logistics, will see to it that the 400 athletes are supplied with refreshments and lunches throughout the weekend.

Players from as far as Phalaborwa and Cape Town will come together to take part. These learners stay with host families from the school who house and entertain them for the weekend.

What sets the festival apart is that all teams play games for the duration of the festival with no team being knocked out. This provides the children with the opportunity to compete in a well organised, professional environment, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds.

The children are also given an opportunity to experience and enjoy other cultures. It also helps to build the excellent camaraderie and friendships between the children and schools.
