Despite the rainy conditions, Mighty FC beat Tembisa Sports Centre FC 1-0 in a game played at the Xubeni Sports Grounds on Sunday.
Despite the rainy conditions, Mighty FC beat Tembisa Sports Centre FC 1-0 in a game played at the Xubeni Sports Grounds on Sunday.
The match was a Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) promotional league game.
Might FC showed dedication and was eager to win from the first minutes of the game.
Tembisa Sports Centre FC put pressure on their opponents, but their attempts at goal were fruitless. The Mighty FC goalkeeper, Prince Mathonsi, ensured not a single ball passed his position.
Both teams struggled to score, until Mighty FC’s right-winger Tshepo Modiba, opened the scoring for his team. His goal put Mighty FC in the lead 30 minutes into the first half.
Despite this goal, the score was still 1-0 when the half-time whistle blew.
During the second half, Tembisa Sports Centre FC seemed to strengthened its defence and attacked more, but it was to no avail as Mighty FC’s ‘keeper proved up to the task of protecting his team’s goal.
With only a few minutes left before the referee blew the whistle for the game to end, Mighty FC’s striker Thabang Xaba was issued a red card for remonstrating with the referee.
Tembisa Sports Centre FC failed to capitalise on this opportunity and the game ended 1-0, in favour of Mighty FC.
