Easter boost for local school
As part of giving back to the community, members from Shoprite at the Tembisa Plaza donated party packs and cake to the children at Kids Foundation Preschool on Thursday last week.
The store manager, Mr Esau Khumalo, said the donation is part of Shoprite’s Easter community initiative.
“We always give back to the community which support us. This is not the first donation we have made. On a monthly basis, there is always a budget we spend on the needy within the community. People do approach us on a daily basis for a help. As we cannot help everybody at the same time, we then select the most needy groups,” he said.
Mr Khumalo added that their first priority are orphanages and children from child-headed families.
“We just wanted to do a nice thing for the children and give them presents for the Easter holidays in advance. Not everyone will receive gifts during this time. We also try to cheer the children up and encourage them,” he said.
The preschool’s owner, Mr Lawrence Malatji, said they were grateful for the donation.
“We are delighted at being recognised by Shoprite. We appreciate the little they brought to us. We hope they continue helping us here and there,” he said.
