Take out your waste on the correct day
Residents have been taking out their rubbish on random days and the waste ends up being left on the streets for days at a time
PR Councillor for the DA, Clr Allan Sauls, has urged Birch Acres residents to take out their rubbish for collection on the correct days according to the new waste collection calendar.
According to Sauls, residents have not yet become accustomed to the new calendar, where refuse is collected on fixed days.
This reminder comes after Sauls has noticed residents have either been confusing the collection days or they are probably unaware of the change.
Not only does this cause the streets to become messy because of dogs tearing open the plastic bags, but it also poses a health risk.
“The mayor has indicated the city would roll out 210-litre wheelie waste bins where households can dispose of their waste efficiently.”
Birch Acres extensions 2, 4, 5, 10, 21 are collected on Mondays, Birch Acres extensions 1 and 3 on Tuesdays, Birch Acres extensions 6, 7, 12, 14, 17 on Thursdays and Birch Acres proper on Fridays.
