Cancer support group launched

CanSurvive Support Groups provide a caring and confidential environment in which patients can share their experiences

THE launch of the new CanSurvive Midrand Cancer Support Group took place at the Netcare Waterfall Hospital last week.

Guest speakers were Prof Elna McIntosh, sexologist, and Dr Nicolette Landman, a reconstruction and plastic surgeon.

The group hopes to attract people from the eastern suburbs as well as from Midrand and Centurion.

Netcare made the new group most welcome and will continue to host it. The group intends to meet on the fourth Saturday of each month and the next meeting will be on May 24 at 9am at the same venue.

Since October 2009, CanSurvive Support Groups have provided a caring and confidential environment in which patients can share their experiences and concerns and obtain support and useful information from others who have been through similar experiences.

Support is provided for all types of cancer at various levels and patients, caregivers and friends are welcome at the meetings, no matter where they were treated or what cancer they have. Experienced Cancer Buddies will always be in attendance to assist you.
