Help Anti-Freeze to keep people warm this winter
The organisation is aiming to collect 10 000 blankets this winter
OPERATION Anti-Freeze appeals to the public and corporate sector to come together and help them help those in need to stay warm and fed these upcoming winter months.
Operation Anti-Freeze is a non-profit organisation which began in 2000 and provides food parcels and clothes to orphanages, old age homes, homes for abandoned babies and mentally and physically disabled, such as the Quadriplegic Centre for Impumelelo Home in Springs.
Schools such as Laerskool Kreft also benefit from being provided with school uniforms, breakfast and lunch meals for learners as well as soup kitchens during winter.
“It’s going to be a cold winter and there are many people who will have to brave the cold out on the streets and in informal settlements. Please open your heart and donate a blanket and help us to keep the poor warm and reach our goal,” Juanine du Toit, project coordinator for Operation Anti-Freeze, said.
On a monthly basis, the project reaches 1 500 men and women and 1 200 children from many communities in Ekurhuleni, including Kempton Park, Benoni, Boksburg and Edenvale, and is still aiming to increase its feeding scheme.
This winter, the organisation aims to collect 10 000 blankets during the initiative. To make donations of any kind, blankets, food, clothes, or even monetary, people can contact Du Toit on 072-959-7242.
Alternatively, items can be dropped off at Genesis Park, 41 Trig Road, Pomona.
Blankets will be collected until the end of August.
