Cocaine worth R4000 found in man’s car boot
The police became suspicious after the man drove back into his yard quickly when he saw them coming
A Birch Acres man was nabbed on May 22 with R4000 worth of cocaine in the boot of his car.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem Park SAPS spokesman of the, two officers from the EMPD K9 unit were patrolling Birch Acres when at about 10.15am along Katakoeroe Street they came across a car that was reversing out of the yard.
“According to the officers, as soon as they saw the metro police vehicle, he quickly drove back into his yard; and that’s when they became suspicious,” Molokomme said.
The officers then quickly drove after him into his yard and requested to search his vehicle, upon which a white substance wrapped in plastics was found, hidden underneath the gaiter of the boot.
The plastics bags carrying the substance were taken in for testing at a forensics laboratory and came back positive for cocaine.
The 24-year old man was arrested and will face a possession of drugs charge.
