Boitumelong wins netball tournament
Boitumelong Secondary School's netball team won 13-7 in the final against Bahlalerwa's netball team.
The tournament took place at Tembisa High School recently.
The locals girls represented Ekurhuleni North during the netball tournament.
To qualify for the finals, the girls beat Boitlamo, a team from Free State, 50-12.
They also defeated Makopole 29-8.
“My team is dedicated and punctual with regards to practice sessions. What I love about them is that we are all passionate about netball. We are always determine to beat our opponents when having a game,” said the team’s captain, Nokulunga Ntshangase.
The school sports coordinator, Mrs Julia Mafahla, said she was pleased with the performance of the team.
“It is a great achievement. I thank the coach for being there for the pupils,” said Ms Mafahla.
Four players were selected to represent Tembisa during the tournament.
The school principal, Mr Klaas Raseala, said he was honoured and proud of the netball team.
“I hope to see some of these players representing the country in the future. Sports helps teenagers stay out of crime and reduces teenage pregnancy. Exercising plays a major role in developing mental capacity,” said Mr Raseala.
