Dramatic comeback for Tigers
The Mighty Tigers came back from 2-0 in the first half to beat Ivory Partk United FC 4-2.
The match was played at ground 2, next to the Mehlaring Stadium on Sunday.
United FC surprised the more fancied Tigers when they scored two quick goals only 20 minutes into the game. They held onto their lead until the break.
The Tigers came back like possessed men in the second half and started tearing their opponents apart.
It came as no surprise when they pulled one back from the penalty spot.
Thabo Mokokoti dribbled past two defenders before he was brought down in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the spot. Two-goal hero Patrick ‘Tito’ Shandu sent the ‘keeper the wrong way to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Thabo Mokokoti, who was operating on the right flank, received a defence-splitting pass from Mathabatha Tito before beating the ‘keeper with a ground shot to equalise.
Man of the match Tito increased the margin to 3-2 when he headed in the third goal in the 67th minute to score his brace.
Mathabatha put the final nail into the visitors’ coffin when he scored again.
After the game, Tigers’ coach Vusi Yeye, said his players undermined their opponents in the first half and they paid dearly.
“We conceded the first half, but I am happy the lads regrouped in the second half and won,” he said.
