EMPD officer scoops up excellence award
Komane joined the metro police in 2002 and immediately demonstrated admirable passion for her work and a good work ethic
METRO police officer Gloria Mohlamunye Komane, a member of the speed unit, took home a coveted trophy, certificate, R2 000, a Spar voucher to the value of R1 250 and a beach bag as part of her prize for winning the performance and excellence category at the seventh Annual Leadership for Women in Law Enforcement Awards.
The 2014 conference was held in May at Gold Reef City.
This annual event is held under the auspices of Intelligence Transfer Centre (ITC), a company that is committed to promoting the skills development and training agenda throughout the continent by providing responsive and sustainable training interventions aimed at bridging the skills shortages and gaps in the working class.
ITC gives recognition to the female stars of the law enforcement industry in four categories, community service and rural support, performance and excellence, mentoring, leadership and medal of heroism.
Komane joined the metro police in 2002 and immediately demonstrated admirable passion for her work and a good work ethic. In 2013 she arrested 361 speedsters and this year her arrests already stand at 246.
Eligibility to be a nominee in this category, one has to distinguish herself through superior attention to duty, investigative effort that leads to the identification and arrest of a major criminal or criminal activity.
