PRINCESS Sarah Zeid of Jordan visited Ethafeni Clinic in Tembisa on Friday last week, ahead of the 2014 Partnership for Maternal, New-born and Child Health (PMNCH) Partners’ Forum in Sandton.
Her Royal Highness, who is one of the speakers at the forum meeting, was at the clinic to collect first-hand information on maternal, child and women’s health services in South Africa.
The meeting will bring together global health professionals, policy makers, business leaders, advocates and youth leaders to review progress, identify factors for success and agree on commitments for action to help women, new-borns, children and adolescents survive and thrive.
Ethafeni Clinic boasts a zero per cent maternal mortality rate; has birthed 1 536 babies last year and over 985 so far this year. The clinic supports the Mother-Baby Friendly initiative and Kangaroo care after delivery.
