Quatum hits tavern

The driver of a Toyota Quantum allegedly lost control of the car and plunged into a well-known tavern in Tsenelong Section on Saturday.

An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed the car was speeding at the time of the incident.

“It was shortly after 8am when I decided to go the tavern. But after crossing the road, I saw a speeding Quantum taxi swerving towards me and I had to jump to avoid it. It hit the tavern. The driver was terrified and I saw him running down the road,” he said.

Within a short space of time, a crowd of people had gathered around the tavern to see what was happening.

An old man who was wearing a black jacket, shouted that people should just remove the taxi from the tavern and allow people in.

“Why should you wait for the police while we are thirsty? Take it out and let us quench our thirst,” he said to some applause from his friends.
