The City of Ekurhuleni has denied media reports that the metro owes Eskom nearly R1 billion.
The announcement came on Wednesday after what the metro described as “disturbing misrepresentation” in media reports.
“We wish to state on record that City of Ekurhuleni owes no monies to Eskom. Every single bill received from Eskom, totaling R7 billion in the 2013/2014 financial year, ending June 30, 2014, was paid on time,” Ekurhuleni man, Themba Gadebe, said.
The City of Ekurhuleni has a healthy financial position and reiterates that all Eskom bills are paid on time and in full.
