Dzekula FC squeezes through

Dzekula FC beat Tembisa United 2-1 to advance to the finals of a four team tournament played at Kopanong on Sunday afternoon.

The team consisted of players from a small village called Nwadzekudzeku, in the former Gazankulu homeland. They drew first blood only three minutes into the game when Caswell Nkuna dribbled past two defenders on the left flank before slotting the ball home.

Even though United were too physical and sometimes tried to intimidate Dzekula strikers, they failed to prevent them from scoring a second goal.

Ocean Baloyi increased the margin when he outrun the defence before beating the ‘keeper with a ground-shot. The score was 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, Dzekula FC showed signs of fatigue. They allowed their opponents to create goal-scoring opportunities and it was no surprise when they pulled one back from a goalmouth scramble.
