THE City of Ekurhuleni remains loyal to the ideals of clean and transparent governance as per the Auditor General’s unqualified reports for the past five years.
The unqualified reports reflect consistent improvements towards good governance.
According to Moody’s rating scale, the City of Ekurhuleni’s national scale issuer and debt ratings reflect the city’s good financial performance.
“This is a reflection of the city’s strong revenue growth in 2013 and its conservative approach to financial management. The metro’s recent rating also reflects its strong liquidity position, its continued focus on revenue collection and tight controls over expenditure,” said Mandlakazi Mpahlwa-Sigcawu the metro’s head of media relations.
“These are, among others, goal directed efforts by the municipality to achieve sound and accountable governance.”
She added that the municipality had noted the recent negative media coverage focusing on the integrity and professional reputation of city manager, Khaya Ngema.
“Ngema will cooperate with the SIU and the Public Protector’s office. The metro will communicate on this particular matter once all processes have been concluded,” she said.
