WATER shortage problems in Ekurhuleni are escalating with various suburbs in Kempton Park starting to experience problems today.
Parts of Ekurhuleni are experiencing water supply interruptions due to erratic water supply from Rand Water, the bulk supplier.
While areas such as Benoni, Germiston and Tsakane have begun receiving water, Bedfordview and Primrose still remain without water supply.
Meanwhile, Kempton Park began experiencing water supply shortages today affecting several areas.
The areas include Isando, Kempton Park CBD, Spartan, Glen Marais, Pomona, Bredell, Aston Manor, Rhodesfield and Croydon.
Water tankers will be provided in these areas.
“As Rand Water and Ekurhuleni engineers work around the clock to bring the situation back to normal, we wish to emphasise on our call to residents to assist the process by using the little available water sparingly,” Ekurhuleni spokesman, Themba Gadebe, said.
To stabilise the water situation all water users are requested to refrain from all forms of irrigation, washing of vehicles using hose pipes and filling up of swimming pools.
Residents are also urged to report any pipe bursts and repair leaks in their properties to avoid water losses.
The municipality wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
