13.40pm: Water leak repaired, a very happy Mike Leih reported.
11.45am: Two municipality vans came and two vans left. Maybe they went to find the main tap.
11.21am: Still nothing. “I wonder how many swimming pools could have been filled up,” Mike says.
A main water pipeline on Citra Street in Van Riebeeck Park had burst on Tuesday night at about 6.30pm.
It was reported by a concerned resident, Mike Leih, at about 6.45pm (reference number 1211046).
“No one came to stop the gushing waste of good, expensive water going down Citra Street. I called again at 8.15pm. They said they were still busy sending someone,” he said.
“This morning at 9am, water was still running down the street. No-one has even come out to check the site. Our water services is terrible as usual.”
Express has contacted the ward councillor, Jaco Terblanche, as well as the metro’s media department (through which we must work) just prior to publishing this article.
Terblanche confirmed he also reported the matter at 8am this morning.
We will update this article throughout the day.
