Local ladies trounce Bloem team

Tsogang Basadi FC beat Bloemfontein Gogos FC 3-0 in an entertaining friendly game played at the Makhulong Grounds on Heritage Day.

But if the local gogos were playing in an organised league, it is clear they would be fined for fielding at least four players who are still as active as some of the recently retired Banyan Banyana players.

The gogos from Bloemfontein must also thank their goalkeeper for keeping the score line respectable, as she saved countless goal-bound shots throughout the game.

Tsogang Basadi FC opened the score when Simphiwe “Bricks” Mondlane beat the ‘keeper with a low shot only three minutes into the game. It was 1-0 at the break.

The visitors showed signs of fatigue in the second half and allowed the hosts to raid their danger area at will.

Alice “Marks” Machaba scored the second goal after receiving a loose ball 15 meters from the goalposts and unleashed a thunderbolt that beat the ‘keeper hands down.

Mondlane completed her brace when she dribbled past a cluster of defenders and the goalkeeper before tapping the ball into an empty net to make the score 3-0.
