Simango performs well in national assessment

A 9-year-old grade 3 pupil from Isekelo Primary School in Tembisa, Vukosi Simango, was named the top pupil in the Annual National Assessment examinations.

More than 50 pupils received their achievement certificates and trophies in a glorious ceremony to reward the top pupils, which was held at the school on Friday last week.

Asked what he would like to do in the future, he said he would like to be a doctor to help the community.

“I would like to help those who are sick and to teach residents how to take care of themselves. I saw that there are a lot of people who are sick at the local hospital, but there are very few doctors,” he said.

One of the grade 3 teachers, Mrs TV Zulu, said Simango is a dedicated pupil.

“Despite the fact that he is a genius, he takes his work seriously. He is also very quiet in class. I have no doubt he will make us proud in the future,” she said.
