THE City of Ekurhuleni calls on truck owners with trucks with a gross vehicle mass of 3500kg and more to visit its testing stations for free vehicle assessments.
The participating testing stations include Kempton Park, Nigel, Springs, Brakpan, Germiston and Boksburg.
“Ensuring that we have roadworthy vehicles on our roads is fundamental for us as a city because we have a high volume of heavy vehicles driving in and out of our city because of the large industries. We also encourage public operators to continue on a regular basis to test their vehicles even beyond the campaign,” said Member of the Mayoral Committee on Transport, Clr Thumbu Mahlangu.
The free test campaign seeks to curb fatal road accidents as a result of vehicle unroadworthiness.
Taxis and buses are also encouraged to come for tests.
The assessment involves the checking of tyres, brakes, hand brakes, steering mechanisms and the general condition of the vehicle.
The campaign will run until the end of October.
