Emergency repair work underway to restore Kempton water

The pipe was accidentally hooked by contractors working in the Chloorkop area

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is aware of the water supply interruption affecting Kempton Park residential and industrial areas.

Technicians switched off the water supply at 10am in order to repair a broken 450mm main supply pipe in Chloorkop. The pipe was accidentally hooked by contractors working in the Chloorkop area.

The affected areas include Terenure, Kempton Park West, Birch Acres and the Chloorkop industrial and residential areas.

Technicians are currently on site working around the clock to restore water to the affected areas.

Roving water tankers will be made available for domestic use if repair work takes more than three hours from the time of the shutdown.

The municipality wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
